Minister of Economy urges Emirati companies and funds to participate in International Conference on Investment

Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied urged Emirati investment companies and funds to participate in the International Conference on Investment, due to be hosted by Tunisia in early November 2023.

This conference will be an opportunity to learn about the projects planned under the development plan (2023-2025) and which will be carried out under a public-private partnership, he said at a meeting held on May 19 in Tunis with UAE ambassador to Tunisia Imen Ahmed Sallami.

The minister affirmed the readiness of his department and all the investment structures to provide the necessary support and guidance to Emirati investors and to endeavour to overcome potential obstacles.

Besides, he considered that there is need to resume negotiations on the “Sama Dubai” project, given its importance and its economic profitability for both sides.

As a reminder, this sports and urban megaproject planned to be carried out on the banks of the Tunis Lake by the Emirati group Bukhatir, has been blocked for more than 10 years.

Saied reviewed the reforms undertaken by Tunisia to further improve the business climate, pointing out the existence of real opportunities for investment and cooperation, notably in the sectors of ICT, research and innovation, pharmaceutical industries, health services, agri-food industries, etc.
