Cuanza-norte: The Minister of Energy and Water, Joo Baptista Borges, emphasized the need for increased dynamism in the construction of the Caculo Cabeça dam, urging those responsible to expedite the project to ensure the first turbine begins supplying electricity promptly. The minister issued this call during a coordination meeting of the Caculo Cabaça Hydroelectric Project in Cuanza-Norte, where the project's status and updated schedule were reviewed, alongside a financial analysis. According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting, led by Minister Borges, aimed to identify and address existing constraints to ensure the project progresses smoothly and adheres to agreed timelines. It included a visit to the construction site to assess the infrastructure's progress and was attended by notable figures, including the provincial governor of Cuanza-Norte, Joo Diogo Gaspar, project contractors, inspectors, officials from the Ministries of Finance and Planning, and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Angol a. The Caculo Cabeça hydroelectric project stands as the largest in the nation's electricity sector, designed to inject an additional 2,172 megawatts (MW) into the national grid. This addition is anticipated to enhance the grid's reliability and improve the interconnected network's quality, benefiting the entire national territory. Furthermore, the project will facilitate energy exports to neighboring countries, generating substantial revenue for Angola and supporting the country's industrialization by providing clean and affordable energy to eastern regions. Beyond infrastructure, the project is set to significantly impact the national economy by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs and fostering new businesses and industries. This aligns with the Angolan government's priority to enhance citizens' living conditions across the nation.
