Luanda: Candidates for the public recruitment drive for 9,000 professionals, which opened on Wednesday, must apply in the municipalities where they intend to work, according to Laudemira de Sousa, National Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Education. Speaking to TPA Notcias, the official noted that the recruitment process is local in scope; therefore, selected candidates will perform their duties in the municipality for which they applied, and no inter-provincial or inter-municipal transfers are planned after placement.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the recruitment process, which closes on August 4 of this year, offers 8,000 vacancies nationwide for primary and secondary school teachers (under a special employment regime) and 1,000 vacancies for administrative staff. Laudemira de Sousa highlighted that the 1,000 administrative vacancies have been allocated to provincial governments, which bear sole responsibility for organizing and managing their respective recruitment processes, in accordance with the terms of reference established by the sector.
She explained that preference is given to candidates with secondary-level training in IT, administration, and services, although provincial governments may adapt criteria to local realities, particularly in provinces where such specialized courses are not offered. For teaching positions, she noted, candidates must be at least 18 years old and hold qualifications ranging from a bachelor's degree to secondary education diplomas obtained at teacher training colleges or technical and polytechnic institutes.
"Anyone applying for a specific municipality must be prepared to work in that location," she emphasized. Regarding the application process, she advised interested parties to consult only provincial and municipal education directorates, as well as official Ministry of Education channels, to obtain reliable information and avoid falling victim to fraud. Applications for the public recruitment drive are being accepted at municipal education directorates across the country's 21 provinces.
