Ministry of Education Reaffirms Commitment to Training Youth and Adults

Luanda: The Secretary of State for Secondary Education, Soraya Kalongela, reaffirmed on Monday that the Ministry of Education (MED) continues to ensure the training of young people and adults, focusing on social inclusion and the fight against poverty through enhanced knowledge and qualifications. Speaking at the opening of the National Seminar for the Training of Trainers in the First Cycle of Secondary Education for Young People and Adults (EJA), Kalongela emphasized the ongoing nature of the program, which supports the development of human capital.

According to Angola Press News Agency, 199 trainers from six provinces are participating in this event to expand their knowledge across various municipalities as part of the Girl Empowerment and Learning for All Project - PAT II. The provinces involved include Benguela, Namibe, Bengo, Malanje, Uge, and Cabinda, where these professionals will train more than 2,100 teachers. The aim is to enhance the professional development of educational staff and promote innovative and inclusive teaching practices. Kalongela noted that this project, after its completion in March this year, will extend to six additional provinces.

The World Bank representative, Natasha Falco, highlighted that since 2024, over 230,000 Angolans have completed various levels of EJA, becoming more skilled and contributing citizens. She stated that these achievements underscore the tangible impact of the commitment to education, with each graduate's story reflecting a transformation through learning. Falco expressed hope that the training would inspire participants to become knowledge multipliers, dedicated to the mission of inclusion, education, and empowerment of thousands of young individuals.
