Ministry of Foreign Affairs Acknowledges Nando’s Contribution to Building Law-Abiding State

Luanda: The minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte Antonio, acknowledged on Thursday that the trajectory of the former Vice-President of the Republic, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, known as 'Nando', is intertwined with decisive moments in the consolidation of the Angolan state. In a message of condolence sent to ANGOP, on the occasion of the nationalist's death, the minister highlighted the legacy of humility, patriotism, and respect for republican institutions left by the deceased. According to Angola Press News Agency, Téte Antonio stated that he learned of the death of Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos with deep sorrow and dismay, emphasizing that he was an unavoidable figure in the contemporary political history of Angola. The note elaborated that Nando served the country with dedication and a sense of statehood, distinguishing himself in the roles of Prime Minister, Vice-President of the Republic, and President of the National Assembly. In carrying out these roles, Nando demonstrated qualities of d ialogue and the ability to build consensus, as well as a firm commitment to institutional stability and the progress of Angola. The minister, on his own behalf and on behalf of the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, extended his deepest condolences to Nando's bereaved family, friends, former colleagues, and the Angolan people, wishing that they find comfort in the memory of a life dedicated to the service of the Motherland.
