Huambo: The delegate of the Ministry of Interior in central Huambo province, Jos© Fernando Ma§o, promised on Friday in the municipality of Ca¡la to crack down on mob justice. The delegate made the statement during a meeting on public security, adding that the aim is to prevent these actions from ending in violence, retaliation, or discrimination, which compromise collective security and peaceful coexistence among residents.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Ma§o explained that acts of mob justice arise, in most cases, as a response to perceptions of injustice, delays, or inefficiency in public services, and therefore can never be considered a legitimate solution. He stated that such behavior puts people's physical integrity at risk, violates the law, and undermines the population's trust in state institutions, including the National Police, the judiciary, and local authorities.
He highlighted collaboration between citizens and authorities as a priority for conflict prevention, promoting open dialogue, strengthening a culture of responsible reporting, and ensuring that disputes are referred to the appropriate legal channels to avoid retaliation. The meeting brought together heads of various operational and administrative bodies to reinforce action strategies and ensure greater security for the province's population.
