Lubango: The first secretary of the MPLA in Hula, Nuno Mahapi, called for increased cohesion and unity among party members during a speech in Lubango, aiming to strengthen the organization ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Mahapi addressed attendees at the 9th Ordinary Meeting of the MPLA Provincial Committee, emphasizing the need to preserve internal unity and align members with the party's objectives to enhance political and organizational effectiveness. He highlighted the importance of mobilizing activists to unofficially encourage citizen registration for the 2027 general elections, underscoring the role of citizen participation in addressing national challenges.
Mahapi urged outgoing Provincial Committee members to remain committed to the party and motivated new leaders to focus on MPLA's growth and sustainability. The meeting serves as a platform for evaluating party activities in the province, where committee members discuss organizational and functional matters.
A tribute was paid during the proceedings to Fernanda Filomena dos Santos, an MPLA National Assembly and Central Committee member, who recently passed away. The meeting gathers Central Committee members, provincial leaders, and MPLA officials in Hula to deliberate on internal party matters and preparations for the 13th MPLA meeting and upcoming congress.
The one-day session includes reviewing agenda items and outlining strategies to bolster organization, cohesion, and member mobilization efforts.
