Durban: The senior men's and women's and regional U-17 national futsal championships are poised to begin on Tuesday, August 18, at the Osvaldo de Jesus Serra Van-Dúnem multi-purpose pavilion. This event marks a significant sporting occurrence in the city of Huambo, located in the centre-south province of Angola sharing the same name. According to Angola Press News Agency, a document from the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) was sent to ANGOP on Monday, detailing that the competitions will span from August 18 to August 25. Teams from various provinces including Benguela, Bié, Cuanza-Norte, Cuanza-Sul, Huambo, Huíla, Luanda, Lunda-Sul, Malanje, and Namibe are set to participate. The document specifies that 16 teams have confirmed participation in the senior men's tournament, 9 in the women's category, and 4 in the Under-17s. The draw for the tournament is scheduled for Monday at 7 PM in the meeting room of the Osvaldo de Jesus Serra Van-Dúnem pavilion. The championships aim to enhance the development of fut sal and strengthen its competitiveness across the nation. Recently, Huambo was the venue for the 13th Edition of the International Futsal Friendship Tournament (TAIF), which took place from August 8 to 15. This international event saw participation from 32 teams across Angola, Brazil, and Luxembourg in the super senior women's and men's categories.
