AUDA-NEPAD Commends Angola for Strengthening Institutional Capacity

Durban: The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) has acknowledged Angola's voluntary contributions in bolstering institutional capacity and executing development programs across Africa. This commendation was made public during a meeting held on Sunday in Durban, emphasizing Angola's crucial role in supporting continental initiatives.

According to Angola Press News Agency, this recognition came from Nardos Bekele-Thomas, the Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD, during a working meeting with Angola's Foreign Minister, T©te Ant³nio. Bekele-Thomas praised Angola's commitment to fostering the African Union's institutional and developmental framework.

Angola's contributions empower AUDA-NEPAD to enhance its capacity in implementing programs aligned with the African Union's priorities and the objectives of Agenda 2063. This agenda focuses on the continent's socio-economic transformation over the next 50 years.

During their discussions, Ant³nio and Bekele-Thomas reviewed the cooperation between Angola and AUDA-NEPAD, highlighting initiatives across various sectors of mutual interest. They also explored prospects for further collaboration, particularly in sustainable development, regional integration, resource mobilization, and partnerships for Africa's development priorities.

Additionally, the two officials shared perspectives on preparations for the upcoming Mid-Term Summit, scheduled for October 2 in Alalomen, Egypt. This summit aims to assess progress in implementing Africa's development goals, enhance coordination among Member States and AU bodies, and set guidelines for accelerating the achievement of Agenda 2063 objectives.

AUDA-NEPAD functions as the technical arm of the African Union, dedicated to promoting economic and social development across the continent. Established in 2018, it emerged from the transformation of the former NEPAD Agency, assuming a broader mandate to coordinate and implement the African Union's development priorities.
