Luanda:Mozambique's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Joo Jorge Matlombe, welcomed the intention of the Angolan group OPAIA Motors to establish a vehicle assembly plant in Mozambique.
According to Angola Press News Agency, this intention was expressed by OPAIA Motors Director-General Jos© Moreira following the Mozambican minister's visit to the company's facilities.
Minister Matlombe mentioned that Mozambique is preparing a tender to identify a partner for a vehicle assembly project similar to one in Angola's Special Economic Zone. The government is committed to managing investment risks effectively and making necessary investments in this sector.
He also stated that Mozambique is capable of meeting market demands and technical requirements, comparing its potential with major industries in Europe and Asia. He noted that while brands hold strong market positions, each company promotes its own brand and vehicles according to its marketing strategies.
The minister expressed his belief that Angolans would increasingly take pride in their national identity by using locally owned brands, moving away from those considered 'robust.'
