Uge: Over 850 coffee farmers from the municipalities of Uge and Mucaba have undergone training in the last six months to enhance their skills in improving the coffee value chain.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the coordinator of the Mukafe project in Uge, Mateus Lumeca, stated that the training focused on techniques to combat and identify pests, manage production flow, legalize land, as well as prune, plant, harvest, and dry coffee. The training is part of an initiative to boost coffee production in the Uge province.
The project has also involved the distribution of approximately 450,000 coffee seedlings to two thousand producers from the two municipalities this year. Furthermore, the project aims to train more than two thousand young people and women producers from these areas by 2028, focusing on improving the coffee value chain's performance.
The Mukafe project, funded by the European Union and the French Development Agency, seeks to revitalize coffee production by empowering farmers, especially women and young people, in the provinces of Cuanza-Norte, Cuanza-Sul, and Uge. The project's objective is to significantly enhance productivity and quality while strengthening the entire value chain for export.
