Parliament Speaker Engages in Bilateral Talks with Algerian Ambassador

Luanda: The Speaker of the National Assembly, Adao de Almeida, held a meeting with the Algerian Ambassador to Angola, Mounir Bourouba, to deliberate on enhancing bilateral cooperation in economic, social, and political domains.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Algerian ambassador expressed his congratulations to the parliamentary leader upon his election. The meeting served as an opportunity for the ambassador to express satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between Angola and Algeria, founded on the principles and values of the African Union (AU).

The ambassador reaffirmed Algeria's commitment to revitalizing and strengthening bilateral relations across all areas of interest, aligning with its foreign policy focused on African integration and solidarity. He noted Algeria's consistent representation by high-level delegations at Angolan events, underscoring the strong ties between the two nations.

Mounir Bourouba highlighted the longstanding parliamentary friendship group between Angola and Algeria, which has played a crucial role in fostering cooperation between the two parliaments. This mechanism of parliamentary diplomacy is deemed vital for advancing the bilateral relationship.

The Algerian ambassador emphasized the ongoing efforts to deepen and expand the relationship between the two countries, ensuring continued collaboration between parliamentary groups. The historical cooperation is rooted in Algeria's support for Angola's independence struggle.

Currently, Angola and Algeria are concentrating on fortifying economic and trade ties, including agreements in transportation and hydrocarbons. Additionally, both countries are committed to promoting sustainable development and peace in Africa through the African Union.
