Pope Leo XIV’s Visit Reinforces Harmony Among Angolans: Religious Leader

Luanda: The provincial representative of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Angola (IEBA) in U­ge province, Egas Afonso Bartolomeu, regarded the visit of Pope Leo XIV to the country as an opportunity to reinforce the message of peace and harmony among Angolans.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Egas Bartolomeu expressed his belief that the Pope, during his visit scheduled from April 18 to 21 this year, will deliver messages that promote unity, strengthening, and prosperity among the people of Angola. Bartolomeu highlighted Pope Leo XIV's commitment to the development of the church, the transmission of the gospel, and his ability to unite differences.

Bartolomeu acknowledged that the visit of the Catholic Church's world leader brings a message of comfort and encouragement, with the potential to transform the lives of Angolans. He emphasized that this visit is a blessing for all Angolans, regardless of their religious beliefs.

Bartolomeu further elaborated on the significance of the visit, describing it as a representation of God in their locality, underscoring its importance for Angolans. He noted that the preparation for the visit is being handled both materially and spiritually by the Government and the clergy.

Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost, chose his papal title inspired by Pope Leo XIII. As the 267th successor of Saint Peter, he begins his visit to Angola 15 months and 10 days after assuming the papacy on May 8, 2025, succeeding Pope Francis.
