Luanda: The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, Joo Louren§o, chaired the first Ordinary Meeting of the National Security Council at the Presidential Palace in Luanda on Wednesday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting assessed issues related to the political and military situation, public security, and national defence, within the remit of the advisory body to the President of the Republic.
The National Security Council acts as the advisory body to the Head of State on matters of national security policy and strategy, defence, public order, and discipline within the Angolan Armed Forces and the National Police.
The council's responsibilities include assessing the political and military situation and public security, as well as monitoring the organisation and functioning of the Angolan Armed Forces, the National Police, and intelligence agencies.
The body also considers measures to respond to situations of crisis, tension, or disruption of public order, with the participation of senior State officials.
