President Joo Louren§o Returns to Luanda After Inaugurating Natural Gas Plant in Soyo

Luanda: President Joo Louren§o returned to Luanda on Thursday afternoon, after inaugurating the country's first Non-Associated Natural Gas Processing Plant in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province. The Head of State's trip to Soyo marked the start of operations of an infrastructure considered crucial for strengthening national energy security and increasing Angola's industrial capacity.

According to Angola Press News Agency, during the visit, Joo Louren§o toured the new unit's facilities, attended a technical presentation of the project, and unveiled the inaugural plaque, an act that symbolized the completion of one of the most important projects in the oil and gas sector in recent years. The project, valued at over 2.2 billion dollars, is part of the New Gas Consortium (NCG), led by Azule Energy, in partnership with TotalEnergies, Chevron, and Sonangol, under the coordination of the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG).

The infrastructure has the capacity to process over 350 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, a volume that guarantees continuous supply to Angola LNG and reinforces domestic and industrial supply. During his stay, the Head of State met with officials and technicians involved in the project and received updated information on the economic and social impact of the factory, which already employs around four thousand workers, mostly Angolans, and promises to generate new opportunities for the municipality.
