President of the Republic Visits Ndalatando for Proximity Governance Program.


Ndalatando: The President of the Republic has arrived in Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte, this afternoon for a two-day work program as part of his proximity governance initiative. The President, accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, was greeted at Comandante Ngueto Airport by the local governor, João Diogo Gaspar, and members of the central Executive.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the President’s agenda will focus on the inauguration of the General Hospital of Cuanza-Norte ‘Mário Pinto de Andrade’ on Tuesday. The hospital is set to provide advanced healthcare services, including Hemodialysis, Imaging, and an Intensive Care Unit catering to patients of all ages.

The President will also visit the Lucala water treatment plant on Tuesday morning. This facility, still under construction, aims to benefit approximately 300,000 residents. In the afternoon, the President will attend the Provincial Agricultural Production Fair in Ndalatando, featuring producers from all ten municipalities of the province.

n the final day of his visit, Wednesday, João Lourenço will hold a meeting with the local government to discuss the socio-economic conditions of Cuanza Norte. The province, home to around 500,000 people and spanning 24,110 square kilometers, is predominantly reliant on agriculture. Major crops include cassava, corn, and pineapple, among others.

Cuanza Norte also engages in both artisanal and industrial mining activities, primarily extracting gold, diamonds, and other minerals like iron and manganese. The province is noted for its diverse mineral resources, including marble, nickel, zinc, and lime.
