Rangel Administrator Highlights Social Impact of Leo XIV Visit

Luanda: The municipal administrator of Rangel, Louren§o Lus Domingos, on Monday regarded the visit of Pope Leo XIV at the Nossa Senhora de F¡tima parish in Luanda as a historic moment of great spiritual significance for the residents. In statements to the press, the official highlighted the social and spiritual impact of the visit to the church located in the municipality of Rangel, emphasizing the importance of the messages left by the Holy Father for the local community.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the administrator noted that the Holy Father is aligned with policies supporting the most vulnerable groups, with special attention to children, women, and particularly the elderly. 'We have a home here where social support is provided daily, ensuring a healthier life for the elderly residents. The Holy Father's message about the elderly coincides with the Executive's program, which gives special attention to this segment of society,' he said.

He also noted the strong support from the population, who took to the streets to welcome the leader of the Catholic Church. 'Our municipality felt blessed by the visit. The residents flocked in droves to welcome the Holy Father and wish him well in Rangel,' he stated. According to Louren§o Lus Domingos, the messages conveyed by the Pope throughout his visit should serve as a source of encouragement.

The official also appealed to the population to take advantage of the presence of the leader of the Catholic Church in Angola, reinforcing values such as faith, hope, and unity. 'Let us take advantage of the Holy Father's stay to receive his blessing and continue with faith, strength, and courage to fight daily for a better future,' he concluded.

The Parish of Our Lady of Fatima, located in the center of Luanda, is one of the reference points of Catholic life in the capital and welcomes hundreds of faithful daily. The Holy Father also fulfilled an agenda of activities this Monday in Saurimo, Lunda-Sul province, which included the celebration of an open-air mass and a visit to a nursing home.

Thousands of pilgrims from various provinces are gathering in Saurimo to participate in religious activities and witness firsthand the presence of the leader of the Catholic Church. The visit is part of the third day of the apostolic journey to Angola, marked by strong popular mobilization and messages of faith, hope, and unity.

Pope Leo XIV's visit to Angola is part of an African tour that has already taken him to Algeria and Cameroon, and is expected to culminate in Equatorial Guinea. The trip comes years after the historic visits of Pope John Paul II, who was in Angola in 1992, and Pope Benedict XVI, who visited the country in 2009, signaling the importance of Angola in the context of the Catholic Church on the continent.
