Luanda: The head of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation of Bié, Helena Pataca, advocated for more efficient management in public educational institutions, capable of responding to the challenges of the education sector. Helena Pataca spoke on Tuesday at the opening of the Second Municipal Education Symposium in Chinguar, which runs until Wednesday, as part of the festivities for the 54th anniversary of this municipality, celebrated on the 15th of this month. According to Angola Press News Agency, Pataca emphasized that improving school management involves strengthening the monitoring of school activities and optimizing available resources to ensure a suitable teaching and learning environment. She suggested continuous training for all school administrators in the province, covering topics such as administration, finance, and internal organization to guarantee better conditions for students and teachers. Pataca stated that these measures aim to achieve the desired quality of education in the province and the country. The municipal administrator of Chinguar, Elizabeth Mualunga, underscored the need to promote inclusive education, making teaching more comprehensive. Mualunga called on teachers and managers for more commitment to strengthen educational institutions in the municipality. Mualunga considers the symposium a driving force for enhancing education quality through its administrative significance. On the first day, participants analyzed topics related to the role of school managers in improving teaching and learning quality and transformative school leadership coupled with results-based management. The final day will focus on discussions about the partnership between schools, families, and communities for educational success, and administrative management alongside pedagogical supervision aiming for excellence in teaching. Data from Chinguar's education sector indicates the presence of 96 schools, with only 33 being permanent structures. In the 2025/2026 school year, 46,226 students from k indergarten to 13th grade were enrolled. The festivities in this municipality are celebrated under the motto "Chinguar - 54 years of prosperity, growth and sustainable development."
