Society Demands Efficient Police Force to Uphold Human Rights

Ba­a farta: The Deputy General of the National Police, Chief Commissioner Domingos Ferreira de Andrade, emphasized that society is calling for a more efficient police force that upholds human rights within the realm of public safety.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Commissioner Andrade made these remarks during an event celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Santana Andr© Pitra "Petroff" Police Academy. He highlighted the necessity for police training to receive support from all sectors of society to meet this demand. He further noted that public safety has evolved into a complex issue requiring analysis from various societal perspectives, especially in light of the need to enhance police professionalism and adapt procedures.

Andrade described training as a challenging area, stressing that well-trained police are essential for maintaining security, order, and public tranquility. He underscored the importance of police education establishments, noting their role in developing policing standards crucial for fulfilling the constitutional mission of ensuring public order and protecting citizens and their property.

The 2022-27 Strategic Development Plan prioritizes the development and empowerment of individuals in diverse areas of knowledge, particularly from academic and technical-professional perspectives. This is to ensure alignment with global technological advancements and the ability to interpret criminal phenomena impacting public safety and national sovereignty.

The commissioner stated that Acadepol must focus on enhancing the continuous preparation of its staff and strive for the highest level of qualification for its instructors to support and implement police strategies effectively.

During its five years, Acadepol has conducted twelve professional training courses for various police roles, including higher officers, subordinate officers, and specialists in police management, strategic safety, and command and administration, according to its director, Commissioner Soba Quilulo. The academy also focuses on police specialization, operations, road safety management, criminal investigation techniques, and customs training stations.

Commissioner Quilulo emphasized the importance of professionalizing the National Police staff and expanding training areas to meet future challenges.
