Sogester Assumes Management of Soyo River Terminal for 20-Year Term

Luanda: Sogester, a company specializing in loading, unloading, container storage, and logistics solutions, assumed management of the Soyo River Terminal in Zaire province this Saturday for a 20-year term. The handover ceremony, held at the terminal, marked the conclusion of a process that began in 2025 with the launch of an international public tender for the concession to manage and operate the infrastructure-a tender won by Sogester.

According to Angola Press News Agency, this event represents a significant milestone in the modernization of the national port sector and the strengthening of coastal shipping, with a direct impact on the economic development of Zaire province. The initiative also reflects growing investor confidence in Angola's logistics sector and underscores the Executive's commitment to port modernization and the socioeconomic revitalization of the Soyo region.

During the ceremony, the operational transfer documents were formally signed, and the terminal key was symbolically handed over to the concessionaire. The event also included the integration of 30 workers transferred to Sogester, who received personal protective equipment and welcome kits.

Speaking to the press, Sogester administrator Anat³lio Barreira stated that the company brings nearly 20 years of experience in port operations, combined with investment, technical expertise, and professional training. "Our mission is to develop a high-quality service, backed by increased investment, to attract more operators to the coastal shipping sector," he emphasized.

He identified infrastructure limitations and challenges regarding the mobility and movement of people and goods as the main hurdles for national coastal shipping, assuring that Sogester aims to overcome them to provide more efficient and attractive services for investors.
