ZEE Expansion to Boost Employment at Around 30,000 Jobs

Luanda: The Special Economic Zone (ZEE) plans to increase its current 12,000 jobs to approximately 30,000 as ongoing projects come in operation and new investments are materialized. According to Angola Press News Agency, this information was presented on Saturday to the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, by the Chairman of the ZEE Board of Directors, Manuel Francisco Pedro, during a working visit to the industrial hub. The Minister of State also received briefings on projects aimed at strengthening the country's industrial capacity, attracting private investment, and driving job creation. The visit began with the future administrative and support service areas for industries located within the ZEE; these facilities are scheduled to open in late 2026. Subsequently, the Minister of State visited three manufacturing units currently being rehabilitated by the State-part of a group of seven factories formerly under private management-to assess the condition of the industrial equip ment and the work underway to restore production capacity. José de Lima Massano also toured other parts of the ZEE, where he evaluated the occupancy rate of industrial plots and reviewed expansion plans for the industrial park. These plans include the creation of a support service zone for companies and workers, featuring bank branches, retail spaces, restaurants, cafeterias, and other complementary infrastructure.
