Soyovo Sport Complex Hosts National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Championship

Bengo province: Eight teams from six provinces are competing in the 5th edition of the Women's National Wheelchair Basketball Championship, which got underway on Sunday at the pavilion of the "José Armando Sayovo" Paralympic Sports Complex in Bengo Province. According to Angola Press News Agency, the championship will run until 26 September and includes teams such as Misto do Huambo, Mártires do Kuito, Misto do Cuanza-Sul, Escorpiões da Boa Fé, Misto da Huíla, Centro de Reabilitaço Profissional (CRP), and INEFOP de Luanda. These teams are divided into two groups for the competition. On the first matchday, defending champions Mártires do Kuito defeated Escorpiões de Viana 23-3, while Misto da Huíla suffered a heavy loss, going down 6-51 to CRP de Viana. In other matches, INEFOP de Luanda was defeated 2-39 by Misto de Benguela, and Misto do Huambo triumphed over Misto do Cuanza-Sul with a score of 37-14. In Group A, Misto de Benguela and Mártires do Kuito are leading with two points each, followed by Escorpi ões da Boa Fé and INEFOP, each with one point. Group B sees CRP and Misto do Huambo at the top, both with two points, while Misto do Cuanza-Sul and Misto da Huíla are at the bottom of the standings. The following matches are scheduled for Monday: Misto de Benguela vs Mártires do Kuito, Escorpiões da Boa Fé vs INEFOP de Luanda, Misto do Cuanza-Sul vs Misto da Huíla, and CRP de Viana vs Misto do Huambo. The teams will progress through various stages, including the quarter-finals and semi-finals, with the championship concluding with a third-place play-off and final on 26 September.
