Saurimo: UNITA's provincial secretary in Lunda-Sul, Alone Matuca, has advocated for the establishment of mobile voter registration brigades targeting remote and hard-to-reach areas. This initiative, he stated, is vital to enhance the voter registration process for residents in these regions.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Matuca made these remarks during a press conference aimed at reviewing the social and economic conditions in the province, as well as evaluating the ongoing unofficial voter registration efforts in municipalities such as Luma-Cassai, Alto Chicapa, Chiluage, Cazage, and Xassengue. He emphasized that the proposed mobile brigades would significantly increase participation by addressing the challenges faced by residents, especially during the rainy season when access roads deteriorate.
Matuca urged the Provincial Government of Lunda-Sul to allocate necessary technical, human, and logistical resources for the deployment of Mobile Brigades for Unofficial Electoral Registration and the issuance of Identity Cards. He highlighted the importance of these services in ensuring all citizens can update their data and participate in the 2027 elections.
In addition, Matuca pointed out the need for the Ministry responsible to address the poor condition of roads, which hampers the movement of people and goods and hinders regional development. He also called for a review of the recent power outages to ensure that the government can provide basic services to the population.
The Single Public Service Desk (BUAP) has been established in all 14 municipalities, registering over 50,000 citizens who have updated their information, marking a step forward in the voter registration process.
