Luanda: The United States of America Charg© d'Affaires to Angola, Noah Zaring, announced that his country aims to share its vision of innovation with Angola in all sectors, including emerging digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Angola Press News Agency, the diplomat made this announcement during the opening of the 5th Annual Conference on Intellectual Property Rights in Angola. He emphasized the importance of sharing the US vision of innovation with Angola to promote the responsible use of AI.
The US Charg© d'Affaires stressed that strong protection of intellectual property rights is crucial for boosting innovation, attracting investment, and creating jobs. Zaring noted that the conference addresses emerging priorities like digital entrepreneurship and the responsible use of AI, positioning Angola at the forefront of global discussions about the future of the digital economy.
He further highlighted the presence of high-ranking representatives from the Angolan government, including the Minister, as well as members from the private sector and civil society. This participation underscores Angola's recognition of the strategic value of intellectual property in shaping its future.
The event, co-organized by the Angolan government and the US Embassy, operates under the theme "Creative Economy: Technology, Innovation, and Intellectual Property." It features international speakers, Angolan judges, and representatives from the Ministries of Industry and Commerce and Culture.
Key topics addressed include international intellectual property structures and agreements, music monetization and the digital economy, and the impact of artificial intelligence on intellectual property, with a specific focus on Angola.
Intellectual property encompasses a set of legal rights that protect creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, trademarks, and industrial designs, granting creators exclusive rights to economically exploit their works.
