Talatona – The Minister of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion, Faustina Inglês Alves de Sousa, repudiated today, Wednesday, the acts of violence against children, practiced by parents or close relatives.

According to the government official, who made this statement during the opening speech of the ceremony on the occasion of the International Children’s Day, which is commemorated today under the slogan “All Together for the Protection and Full Development of Children”, her portfolio will increase and improve the levels of knowledge on children’s rights.

Regarding the 11 commitments of the Children’s Act, she mentioned that at least nine of them have already been well addressed and that children have the right to school and health.

Faustina Alves de Sousa considered that the number of children who are in homes and are not adopted is worrying because most people prefer to adopt children under the age of five.

On the other hand, she urged people to adopt children from the age of seven onwards, because they also have the right to a home, affection and love.

For his part, the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), Giovani Diamato, said that children deserve quality education, medical assistance, vaccination and adequate nutrition.

Luanda – Angola has already created the conditions to host the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Community of the Portuguese Language Countries (AP-CPLP), which will be close to the National Assembly (Angolan parliament), in Luanda.

The information was advanced Wednesday by the president of the National Monitoring Group of the Portuguese Language Countries Virgílio de Fontes Pereira at the end of a meeting with the group of ambassadors from the CPLP member states.

The MP made a positive evaluation of the installment process of the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of AP-CPLP in the country’s capital.

The official made known that Angola committed itself a lot to the installation and functioning process of the Secretariat having in 2019 set four priority objectives which is related to the assurance that the AP-CPLP Permanent Secretariat would be available in the National Assembly Palace.

The MP assured that the premises in question are available and were visited by the delegation of the CPLP Executive Secretariat headed by its secretary, Zacarias da Costa, who is in Luanda for working reasons.

According to the source, the second objective was to create organizational conditions so that as soon as there was permission for the installation of the permanent secretariat with the appointment of the Secretary, the institution could have a ground work done not to have deadlocks for its opening.

Virgílio de Fontes Pereira emphasized that this process was made through the constitution of an Installing Committee that works in the facilities of the future permanent secretariat that is in charge of all organizational aspects.

On the other hand, the Executive Secretary of the CPLP informed that the Permanent Secretariat of the organization has been exploring ways of working with the AC-CPLP as it shares common themes, such as the fight against violence, exploitation of minors and child labor, mobility issues, among others.

Currently, Angola chairs the rotational presidency of the Community of the Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), organization that was created in 17 July 1996, in Lisbon and is composed by nine member states.

The CPLP comprises Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.
