Ado de Almeida Highlights Strong Ties Between Angola and Gabon


Luanda: The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ado de Almeida, emphasized today in Luanda that the relationship between Angola and Gabon is anchored in trust and wide-ranging cooperation, encompassing politics, economy, society, and culture.



According to Angola Press News Agency, Ado de Almeida highlighted the significant role the Gabonese State played during the challenging years of Angola’s armed conflict. Speaking at a solemn ceremony at the Angolan National Assembly, during the visit of Gabon’s Head of State, Brice Nguema, Almeida noted Gabon’s diplomatic efforts as a mediator, which facilitated the Libreville and Franceville conferences. These conferences were pivotal in fostering dialogue and paving the way for peace in Angola.



He further elaborated that Gabon’s diplomatic initiatives have been instrumental in enhancing regional stability and showcasing Africa’s capability to address its challenges through local solutions. “The republics of Angola and Gabon are brother countries,” he stated, referencing the enduring historical and cultural ties that unite the two nations.



The solemn session honoring Brice Nguema featured the national anthems of both nations and a speech by Ado de Almeida. The President of Gabon, Brice Nguema, is visiting Angola for a three-day state visit.
