Angola and Zimbabwe Set to Form Strategic Partnership in Agriculture, Education, and Tourism

Luanda: The eastern Moxico province and the Republic of Zimbabwe are on track to establish a strategic partnership in the fields of agriculture, education, and tourism. This intention was expressed today during a review meeting between members of the Provincial Government and the delegation from the Zimbabwean embassy in Angola, which visited the province over the past five days.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Vice-Governor for the Political, Social, and Economic affairs, Elizabeth Ayala, considered the trip "very productive," emphasizing that the meetings allowed for the identification of priority areas to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on youth training, the transfer of technical knowledge, and economic development.

In the field of agriculture, one of the main focuses is the empowerment of young people through technical and scientific training, including the sharing of experiences on food production and processing. The cooperation could also include the exchange of experts and training programs to improve agricultural and livestock practices in the province.

The area of education also emerges as a central axis of the partnership. Authorities advocate for the creation of academic exchange programs between Angolan and Zimbabwean students, with emphasis on technical and vocational education. Language learning is also seen as essential to strengthening this cooperation, with young Angolans being able to learn English, while students from Zimbabwe will be able to study Portuguese.

Tourism is another sector considered strategic. According to the official, Zimbabwe has been internationally recognized as one of the leading tourist destinations for 2026, thanks to its natural landscapes and the development of ecotourism and agritourism. Participation in the international fair in Zimbabwe should allow for a closer look at the sectors that drive the development of that country and prepare the administrative procedures for the formalization of agreements.

In turn, the Zimbabwean ambassador, Thando Madzvamuse, expressed satisfaction with the results of the mission, stating that the delegation visited several points in the province, including agricultural farms, projects related to solar energy, and educational institutions. The diplomat also advocated for student exchanges between the two countries, emphasizing that Zimbabwe has leading technical schools that can contribute to the training of young Angolans, aligning with the efforts to diversify the economy advocated by the President of Angola, Joo Louren§o.

In the context of future cooperation, the ambassador also revealed that his country is identifying a Zimbabwean province that could establish a twinning relationship with Moxico, creating a permanent platform for institutional cooperation and joint development between the two regions. The Zimbabwean diplomat's visit to Moxico province is part of the strengthening of cooperation relations between Angola and Zimbabwe, two Southern African countries that are members of regional organizations such as the AUDTRAK African Community.

In recent years, the governments of both countries have expressed interest in deepening economic and technical cooperation, especially in sectors considered strategic for the diversification of national economies, such as agriculture, tourism, education, and vocational training.
