Doha: Angola is participating in the II United Nations World Summit on Social Development, which is taking place in the capital of Qatar, with a delegation led by the Minister of State for Social Affairs, Maria do Ros¡rio Bragan§a, representing President Joo Louren§o.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Minister arrived at Hamad International Airport, where she was welcomed by the Angolan ambassador to Qatar, Ant³nio Coelho Ramos da Cruz, and the ambassador and representative of Angola to the United Nations, Francisco Jos© da Cruz. The summit gathers world leaders, civil society representatives, the private sector, and international organizations to reaffirm the commitment to the Copenhagen Declaration and promote the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
The event is held under the theme 'Revitalizing the Global Commitment to Social Development' and emphasizes three core pillars: poverty eradication, full employment and decent work, and social integration. Minister Maria do Ros¡rio Bragan§a is scheduled to participate in high-level round tables discussing actions to accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda, as global social issues demand urgent and coordinated responses.
The Angolan delegation also comprises the Minister of Planning, alongside the Angolan ambassadors to Qatar and the UN. Key topics under discussion include social inequalities, demographic changes, digital transitions, and the social aspect of sustainable development, aiming to adopt a new Political Declaration co-facilitated by Belgium and Morocco.
Angola's participation underscores its dedication to social development objectives, as it shares experiences and solutions to tackle the challenges of implementing the 2030 Agenda.
