Luanda: The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) launched Angola's first Civil Aviation Academy (AACA) on Monday at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda, aiming to strengthen, modernise, and establish a sovereign training system in this sector in the country. Located at the Aeronautical Training Centre of the National Air Navigation Company (ENNA), the institution is dedicated to training pilots, air traffic controllers, operations technicians, managers, operational safety specialists, among other careers essential to the safe and efficient operation of the civil aviation system.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the director-general of AACA, Paulino da Silva, emphasized the academy's creation to meet the need for specialized and qualified training in the Angolan civil aviation sector. He highlighted the importance of continuous training and capacity building for professionals to ensure the safety, efficiency, and quality of services provided in the sector.
The training cycle is expected to begin in January 2026, focusing on training trainers with the aim of expanding the pool of professionals who will teach the courses. Da Silva assured that the training will be provided by Angolan specialists, but the institution may also resort to foreign expertise when justified. After the second half of 2026, training will extend to ANAC and civil aviation professionals from different specialities within the national aeronautical industry.
Da Silva expressed the view that the AACA should serve as a mechanism to bring the industry and other public and private institutions closer together, establishing regional and international partnerships to train staff from other countries. AACA is committed to providing excellent training based on the most demanding international standards, aiming to become a regional reference academy to support neighbouring countries with training, through innovation and applied research in safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
