Rome: The Minister of State for Social Affairs, Maria Bragan§a, on Wednesday will address issues related to infrastructure and water investments at the World Food Forum, which has been taking place in Rome, Italy, since Monday. Bragan§a will also speak on science and innovation, climate resilience, and disaster risk reduction related to water in the high-level segment titled "Dialogue on Water."
According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister is representing President Joo Louren§o and will be accompanied by the ministers of agriculture and forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, and fisheries and marine resources, Carmem dos Santos. The Angolan delegation will participate in the inaugural ceremony of the "Hand-in-Hand" Investment Forum and present the country's Investment Plan on Food Sustainability and Agriculture - the Potential of the Lobito Corridor - to promote the project and attract investment to this area with abundant freshwater and arable land.
The government also plans to discuss its support for initiatives to increase agricultural production, exports, and investment in human capital. The World Food Forum was officially opened on Monday by FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu. The event discusses initiatives to combat food insecurity and accelerate global action against hunger and malnutrition. It was preceded by the opening of the Global Youth Forum.
This year's theme is "Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future," which is defined by four pillars dubbed the "Four Bests": Better Production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment, and Better Life. It brings together world leaders and their representatives to discuss progress in fighting poverty and finding solutions for socially including the most disadvantaged. It highlights their commitment to taking global action against hunger and promoting social inclusion in developing countries.
The agenda for World Food Week also includes the inauguration of the FAO Food and Agriculture Museum and Network, as well as several roundtable discussions, including the Investment Forum, the Science and Innovation Forum, the Hand-in-Hand Initiative, and the Water Dialogue.
