The Brilhante Foundation, the social wing of the diamond sub-sector, is actively funding the implementation of structuring solutions such as telemedicine in some hospitals in Lunda-Norte province to upgrade and make health services more accessible and sustainable. The project, named 'Saºde Brilhante' (Brilliant Health), is a collaboration between the Provincial Government of Lunda-Norte, the Brilhante Foundation, and Teramed Sistemas de Saºde, S.A. It aims to establish a referral and counter-referral ecosystem.
Presented to local authorities last weekend, the initiative seeks to enable residents of Lunda-Norte to schedule appointments at public hospitals in Luanda for specialties not available in the province, without requiring prior travel. Bruno dos Santos, the Director-General of the Foundation, emphasized that technology will serve as a bridge to reduce inequalities and restore hope to populations with limited access to specialized health services. The project promises to provide citizens with more dignity, lower travel costs, and quicker access to the right specialists through telemedicine, digital scheduling, and the referral and counter-referral system.
The institution aims to build a legacy of inclusion, innovation, and social responsibility by implementing solutions tailored to local realities. It plans to expand the initiative to the provinces of Lunda-Sul and Moxico next year. Currently, Lunda-Norte has six municipal hospitals, five provincial-level hospitals, 80 health posts, and 13 medical centers staffed by 115 doctors.
