Icolo e bengo: A car assembly line for light and heavy passenger vehicles, with an annual capacity of 22,000 vehicles, will be inaugurated on Tuesday at the facilities of the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), in the province of Icolo e Bengo, in an initiative by the Angolan OPAIA group.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the administrator of the OPAIA group, Danilo Ventura, highlighted that the project has an investment of 150 million dollars and that annually they will be able to assemble 22,000 cars, including light and commercial vehicles, as well as 1,000 public transport buses. The light vehicles are made in China, while the Volvo buses come from Sweden. The price and brand of the cars were not revealed.

Ventura mentioned that the most recent business unit dedicated to automobile assembly, marketing, and assistance reinforces the group's commitment to the industrialization and economic development of the country. The official stated that the group decided to invest in this type of industry due to the difficulties that the Angolan people face in terms of urban mobility.

In addition, he stated that the project employed 3,500 Angolan citizens through a job fair. The OPAIA group, which has existed since August 2002, has a presence in Africa, Europe, Asia, and America, operating in sectors such as construction, hotels, fertilizer production, mining, and transport.
