Angola’s Successful Showcase at ITB Berlin Draws Global Interest

Luanda: Angola made a positive assessment of its participation in ITB Berlin, the world's main tourism fair, from March 3 to 5 this year, where it promoted its gastronomy, music, and elements of national identity, attracting visitors' attention to the event.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the information was released by the deputy director general of the Institute for the Promotion of Tourism (INFOTUR), Bruno de Matos, during a press conference in Luanda. He emphasized that Angola successfully positioned itself as a tourist destination, capturing the interest of major international players in the tourism sector. These players expressed their intention to associate with the Angolan brand in an event that hosted 97,000 participants and 5,601 exhibitors from 166 countries.

Bruno de Matos highlighted that the agreements secured at the event were valued at around 46 billion euros. Angola's delegation included 22 tour operators and featured a dedicated room for producing media content to promote national products, which garnered over one million views. The opening gala, attended by 600 guests, showcased Angola's rich gastronomy, music, and other national cultural elements.

Regarding institutional engagements, Angola held 14 meetings with various international tour operators, many of whom expressed interest in collaborations. The event also facilitated the creation of a manual on investment opportunities in Angola, signaling a proactive approach to attracting foreign investment.

In addition to promoting its tourism, Angola encouraged tour operators to enhance their services' international visibility through digital platforms. All audiovisual content produced during the fair reached an impressive 125 million views, further amplifying Angola's global presence.

Addressing challenges in the tourism sector, the need for increased infrastructure, organization of tourist interest areas, and investment in strategic actions was underscored as essential for advancing Angola's tourism objectives.
