Luanda: Nearly 200,000 companies in Angola are not reporting to the General Tax Administration (AGT), out of a total of approximately 300,000, including micro, small, medium, and large-sized companies, according to the chairwoman of the Order of Accountants and Accounting Experts of Angola (OCPCA), Cristina Silvestre. The revelation was made during a press conference in Luanda, focused on integrating the Order of Accountants' database with the AGT website. According to Angola Press News Agency, Cristina Silvestre clarified that many of these companies, particularly those established two or three years ago at the One-Stop Shop, are unaware that they are subject to tax obligations upon receiving their Tax Identification Number (NIF). She noted that this group includes micro-enterprises that have not yet engaged in any transactions or have annual sales up to 25 million kwanzas. Silvestre emphasized the necessity for these companies to employ an accountant for proper guidance. She highlighted that the AGT has r equested OCPCA's assistance to guide these companies effectively. It remains the responsibility of certified and effective OCPCA members to sign and submit accounts to the AGT. She illustrated that for a company with 50 clients, the work should not solely fall to a senior accountant but should involve a team, including accounting students. Silvestre explained that the accountant grant was established to assist companies by providing access to expert guidance through an official platform. Nvela António OCPCA, chairman of the Audit Council of the Order of Accountants, elaborated that the accountant grant is a protocol with the AGT designed to support micro and small businesses with limited financial capacity, ensuring they receive the necessary support. The Order of Accountants and Accounting Experts of Angola (OCPCA) manages 7,000 certified members nationwide.
