Banana Fair Returns to Panguila Market With a Focus on Agricultural Development

Panguila: The 12th edition of the Banana Fair is set to commence this Friday at the Panguila Market, promising to be a significant event for the agricultural sector. Scheduled to run from the 26th to the 28th of this month, the fair operates under the theme "The Banana as a Factor in the Development of Agriculture in Bengo," highlighting its central role in local agricultural advancement.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Banana Fair, initiated by the Bengo Provincial Government in 2012, has grown to become the largest business fair in the province. It serves as a platform for showcasing and trading agricultural products, with a particular emphasis on bananas. The event also displays production inputs such as agricultural machinery and equipment integral to the production chain.

This year's fair aims to exceed the achievements of previous editions, which saw sales volumes surpassing 159 million kwanzas. The last edition attracted over four thousand visitors and featured more than 387 exhibitors from Bengo's twelve municipalities and the provinces of Uige and Icolo e Bengo, facilitating the movement of approximately 580 tons of various products.

Novagrolider, a prominent company, claimed the Large Producers category in the previous edition, while Kibaxe municipality took home the Small Producers category award. Highlights from Feiba2025 included the Revelation Stand from Ambriz municipality, Nutry Pop Indºstria's recognition in the Industry and Commerce category, Uige's acknowledgment for Best Provincial Representation, and the Essapa Group's excellence in the Agricultural Equipment and Instruments category.

The Banana Fair's history dates back to its inaugural event in February 2012 in Dande municipality's locality of A§ucareira. The fair has since evolved, with the Panguila Market hosting its second to fifth editions between 2013 and 2016. After a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the fair resumed in 2023 and continues to be a pivotal event for agricultural stakeholders in the region.
