CAF Implements New Safety Measures for CAN 2025, Bans Laser Pointers and Alcohol in Stadiums

Morocco: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued an official list of items banned from stadiums during the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) to ensure safety throughout the tournament. Among the prohibited items are weapons or sharp objects, fireworks, flares, explosives, glass bottles or containers, as well as alcoholic beverages and other illegal substances. Laser pointers, banners with offensive or political messages, as well as large backpacks or bags, are also on the list, according to guidelines recently released by the governing body of the sport on Africa.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the decision is part of the security measures implemented to ensure a safe and peaceful environment throughout the competition, which begins on the 21st of this month and ends on January 18 in Morocco. CAF, however, appeals to the cooperation of fans for the strict compliance with these rules, highlighting that the priority is to guarantee a safe and enjoyable experience for all those who will attend the games in the stadiums.

Angola is in Group B, with the national teams of Egypt, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, the latter being the opponent of the "Palancas Negras" in the first round, on the 22nd.
