Camaiangala Resumes Production with 7,200-Ton Corn Harvest

Camaiangala: The Camaiangala Agricultural Farm in Angolan eastern province of Moxico has begun harvesting 7,200 tons of corn as part of the 2025/2026 agricultural campaign. The manager of Gesterra, the public entity in charge of managing the project, Felipe Neto, stated that the production results from the cultivation of 1,200 hectares out of the farm's total 18,000 hectares, over a period of seven months. According to Angola Press News Agency, the farm located in the municipality of Camanongue is an example of the potential of Angola's internal capabilities to boost national agriculture, while also highlighting the government's challenges in strengthening the agricultural sector. Felipe Neto emphasized that the region's favorable climatic conditions are essential factors for the success of the agricultural project. During a visit to the farm, the Secretary to the President of the Republic for Economic Affairs, Milton Reis, highlighted the project as an example of Angola's agricultural potential and appeale d to the private sector to increase investments in domestic production. The Camaiangala agricultural project was created in 2023 and occupies an area of 18 thousand hectares between the Cassai and Luxia rivers. The farm has a comprehensive infrastructure, including 3,300 square meters of residential space, offices, and other essential facilities. Created by the Angolan State, the project is part of a larger initiative to combat hunger and reduce poverty, focusing on the production of corn, beans, soy, and meat. The farm was initially managed by the private group FF, in partnership with the South African company Júnior Smit, from 2019. However, due to operational difficulties and technical incapacity of the partnership, the government resumed control of the farm seven months ago, transferring management to Gesterra.
