Luanda: The Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants, and Veterans of the Fatherland, Lúcio Gonçalves Amaral, emphasized the operational capacity and readiness of the Central Military Region (RMC) during his visit to Huambo. The visit included assessments of military units and strategic infrastructure in the area. According to Angola Press News Agency, Lúcio Gonçalves Amaral expressed his satisfaction with the developments witnessed at the military sites, while also acknowledging ongoing challenges in fully implementing projects. He stressed the importance of reaching complete operational capacity in the region and discussed plans for specialized training for military personnel. This training will initially target those in mandatory military service and basic training before extending to current service members. Additionally, the minister mentioned the ongoing construction of the Regional Military Hospital in Huambo, which is currently 48 percent complete. The facility aims to enhance the healthcare response capacity of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and improve service delivery to the local population. He urged patience as the construction progresses. Amaral's visit commenced at the Armored Troops and Driver Training School in Chipipa, where he evaluated the conditions and resources for military instruction. His tour also included the "Heróis de Kangamba" Army Troop Training Center in Chicala-Cholohanga, which focuses on preparing new FAA personnel. The minister inspected the construction of the Huambo Regional Military Hospital in the Cavongue neighborhood, which will accommodate 200 beds. The expansive complex spans 800,000 square meters, with significant investments made to ensure comprehensive healthcare services upon completion. During his visit, Amaral was accompanied by high-ranking officials, including General Jaime Manuel Pombo Vilinga and Lieutenant General Remígio do Espírito Santo. The tour culminated at the Army Higher School, where discussions with local leadership took place.
