Experts Highlight Government Policies Fueling Growth in Angola’s Agricultural Market

Luanda: Experts from the international consulting firm PwC emphasized the impact of government policies on the growth of Angola's agricultural market, noting the establishment of a national supply chain for agricultural inputs. According to Angola Press News Agency, the experts identified these policies and market growth as key drivers for developing Angola's agricultural input production chain.

During the 8th E and M Conference on Agriculture, PwC Angola director Mauricio Brito discussed the prioritization of agricultural production in the National Development Plan. Brito cited initiatives like the National Training Plan for Grain Production (Planagro), customs duty exemptions, and public tenders for fertilizer acquisition as stimulants for private investment and youth engagement in agriculture.

Brazilian agribusiness expert Fabio Pereira pointed out challenges such as local industrialization, innovation, logistics revitalization, and attracting private investment. Anderson Jeronimo from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry noted the government's efforts in securing fertilizers and producing sufficient quantities for domestic use, with eight mixing plants and two industries using national raw materials.

The Economia e Mercado magazine organized the event to explore competitiveness in agriculture, focusing on the "National Fertilizer and Agricultural Input Industry" theme. Discussions included the production chain, input use, soil sustainability, biofuels, energy transition, economic diversification, rural value creation, and sustainable resource management.
