Governor Highlights Impact of Pope’s Visit on Promoting Peace

Luena: The Vice-Governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, Elizabeth Ayala, emphasized today in Luena the significance of Pope Leo XIV's visit as a moment of "great spiritual and social relevance" for the country, engaging institutions and the faithful across various provinces.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the provincial government is actively preparing logistical and institutional support to assist the neighboring province of Lunda-Sul, which is set to host the Catholic Church leader. Luena has been designated as a key location for organizing the mobilization and transportation of the faithful who wish to attend the religious event in Saurimo.

Elizabeth Ayala noted that the Pope's visit holds a "profound meaning" for the spiritual life of society and the promotion of essential values. She stated that the Catholic Church leader wields global influence that surpasses political and social boundaries, playing a crucial role in advancing faith, solidarity, and the protection of human rights.

"The figure of the Pope has a great influence in the world and represents an important symbol for the spiritual life of people, also being a moral reference that contributes to the safeguarding of human rights and to the strengthening of the values of our society," Ayala remarked.

The governor further explained that despite the visit occurring in a neighboring province, the executive branch is dedicated to supporting the initiative and encouraging the participation of the faithful. Measures include promoting the movement of people interested in receiving the Pope's message to the Angolan community.

Elizabeth Ayala also reflected on the international context of the visit, characterized by numerous challenges, including armed conflicts and tensions between nations. She expressed that the Pope's message could significantly contribute to the call for peace and dialogue among different peoples.

"We are living through challenging times in the international arena, with wars and disagreements between different nations. A message of peace, dialogue and understanding between peoples and between world leaders will be extremely important not only for Angola and Africa, but also for the world in general," she concluded.
