Bengo: The director of the Provincial Health Office, Matondo Alexandre, announced that at least 917 patients were treated at health units in Bengo province during the New Year period. Of this number, 326 were treated in the emergency room and 226 users were hospitalized. The period also saw four births, six transfers from municipal hospitals to the provincial hospital, and three transfers from the provincial hospital to national hospitals.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the most common health issues were malaria, with 286 cases, followed by febrile syndrome with 78 cases, flu syndrome with 34 cases, high blood pressure with 40 cases, acute diarrhea with 23 cases, acute respiratory diseases with 11 cases, and one stroke case. Additionally, three deaths were recorded, alongside 72 cases of physical assault, 23 motorcycle accidents, 56 stab wounds, two cases of second-degree burns, and one case of alcoholic coma.
For the New Year's celebrations, the health sector in Bengo deployed 385 health workers, 14 ambulances, essential medicines, and other support resources and infrastructure. Matondo Alexandre emphasized the importance of being proactive, resilient, and innovative, noting that the year will present many challenges. He stressed that dedication and humanization are crucial, as the patient remains the most important focus for health technicians.
