IECA Reinforces Appeal for Responsible Use of Technological Means

Cuito: The Secretary-General of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA), Luciano Chianeke, reinforced, in the city of Cuito, Bi© province, the appeal for the responsible use of technological means. The religious leader made this appeal today, Monday, to the press, at the end of the presentation of the new provincial secretary of the IECA Synod in Bi©, Herculano Chinganguela, to the Provincial Government, in an audience granted by Governor Celeste Adolfo.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the pastor highlighted how technological means, especially telephones, initially designed to facilitate human life, are becoming detrimental due to their misuse. He emphasized that these technologies are undermining traditional practices key to African and Angolan cultural identity and compromising the quality of education, which should be rooted in ethical and moral values in educational institutions.

He further expressed concerns that these technologies are jeopardizing relationships and genuine family life, as well as replacing the role of parents and guardians in their children's education. Faced with this reality, he appealed for responsible use of technology by users to ensure it serves its intended purpose in enhancing the lives of users and society in general.

Reverend Pastor Luciano Chianeke stated that irresponsible use of technology does not contribute to the formation of character; instead, it compromises individuals' futures by leading them away from their true values.

Pastor Herculano Chinganguela, who was sworn in last Sunday during a service presided over by Reverend Pastor Luciano Chianeke, has now taken on the role of provincial secretary. The service, held at the Sporting Pavilion in Bi©, was attended by Governor Celeste Adolfo, members of the Bi© Government, local IECA pastors, and representatives from other religious denominations.

Herculano Chinganguela, 71, originally from Huambo province, succeeds Reverend Martinho Sondjamba Diogo as the fourth secretary of the Bi© provincial synod of the IECA, which was founded in 2002.
