Tunis: Coast Guard units of the centre recovered 13 dead bodies and rescued 1,867 irregular migrants of various African nationalities. These units also foiled 50 irregular migration attempts, said the General Directorate of the National Guard in a press release published on Sunday. 14 smugglers and intermediaries, wanted by the police, were arrested by the National Guard District in Sfax, the same source said. 16 boats, 47 engines and quantities of fuel were seized during the operation, the same source added, indicating that an anarchic factory of manufacturing boats was discovered.
