Luanda: The governor of Luanda, Luis Nunes, announced that the capital city is prepared to embrace international investments and form new strategic partnerships to enhance Angola's standing as a burgeoning tourist destination in Africa. Nunes made this declaration during the opening of the Angola Investment Summit 2026, highlighting the nation's ambition to gain international recognition for its authentic experiences, diverse ecosystems, rich cultural heritage, and significant growth potential in the tourism sector.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Nunes emphasized that Luanda serves as the gateway to Angola, offering the first introduction to the country's culture and the warmth of its people. He described Luanda as the starting point for discovering an extraordinary country brimming with unique landscapes and opportunities for investment and prosperity.
Nunes reiterated the government's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for both public and private investment. This commitment, he noted, is part of the strategic vision to diversify the economy, which has successfully attracted more investment and generated jobs and income for Angolan families.
The Angola Investment Summit 2026, which began on Thursday in Luanda, aims to explore investment opportunities, innovation, and sustainable development within the tourism sector. The event was inaugurated in the presence of President Joo Louren§o of Angola and President Daniel Chapo of Mozambique. The summit's agenda includes participation from over a thousand delegates from ten countries, with panel discussions on various topics such as "Tourism as a National Economic Strategy" and "Shaping the Future of Tourism Investment."
The summit, which will continue until Friday, positions Luanda as a key African platform for discussions on investment, economic development, tourism, innovation, and international cooperation. It also features significant global figures like the UN Secretary-General for Tourism, Shaikha Al Nuwais, and Bulut Bagci, President of the World Tourism Forum Institute.
