Minister of State Directs Restructuring of National Authority for Economic Inspection

Icolo e bengo: The Minister of State and Head of the Civil Office of the President of the Republic, Dionisio da Fonseca, has instructed the restructuring of the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA) in the province of Icolo e Bengo.

According to Angola Press News Agency, this directive was revealed by the Secretary of State for Commerce and Services, Augusta Fortes, during a press briefing after a meeting led by the Minister of State, who also serves as the coordinator of the Council of Inspection Activities. Fortes highlighted the urgency of completing the restructuring process by the end of the first quarter of this year, emphasizing the need to establish necessary conditions for transportation and work, as well as optimizing the mechanism for product collection.

The restructuring aims to establish a rapid inspection body capable of promptly responding to inquiries, addressing the current shortfall of 91 inspectors who are unable to meet the country's inspection needs. ANIESA's inspector general, Joo Quiuma, stated that enhancing capacity with additional human, material, and technological resources is a priority to expedite the process. He noted that the authority records an average of 600 infractions monthly.

The Minister of State's visit was part of a fact-finding mission to engage with inspectors and understand the operations of the institution, which was established five years ago. The visit also focused on assessing working conditions, examining services, expenses, and the application of fines.

ANIESA, under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, is an Angolan government body tasked with overseeing economic activities and ensuring food safety across the country. Established in 2020, ANIESA consolidates inspection services to combat violations, protect consumers, and ensure fair competition in production, transportation, and marketing.
