Lunda-Norte: More than 500 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were expelled from the Angolan province of Lunda-Norte last weekend by local authorities during a micro-operation targeting illegal entry and residence within the national territory. The operation, conducted by the Provincial Command of the National Police, was aimed at addressing unauthorized settlement activities in the region. According to Angola Press News Agency, the spokesman for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Lunda-Norte, Domingos Muanafumo, stated that the immigrants were repatriated to their country through various border posts, including Cuango, Chitato, Caungula, Lóvua, and Cambulo. The individuals reportedly intended to establish themselves in areas known for diamond mining activities. In the same operation, authorities seized 4,690 liters of fuel, comprising 2,660 liters of diesel and 2,030 liters of gasoline, intended for smuggling into the DRC. Additionally, 15 diamond stones and three solar pane ls were confiscated in regions such as Xá Muteba, Capenda Camulemba, Cambulo, and Chitato. Domingos Muanafumo mentioned that the diamonds will be entrusted to ENDIAMA, while the seized fuel will be documented in the criminal proceedings against the offenders. He did not specify the number of individuals implicated in these activities. The province of Lunda-Norte, noted for its strategic location, shares a border with the DRC stretching approximately 770 kilometers, encompassing both land (600 kilometers) and river (170 kilometers) boundaries.
