President Louren§o Expresses Gratitude to Nations and Supporters at 50th Independence Anniversary

Luanda: President Joo Louren§o extended his gratitude to countries, citizens, and foreign organizations for their support in Angola's journey towards independence, sovereignty, and national reconstruction, speaking at the 50th anniversary celebration of Angola's National Independence, he thanked those who have supported the nation's reforms and investments.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Louren§o's address was attended by multiple heads of state and government, where he acknowledged the challenges overcome by Angola since declaring independence on November 11, 1975. He highlighted the defeat of the Apartheid regime's army in Cuito Cuanavale as pivotal for Namibia's independence and South Africa's democratic transition.

The president also reflected on the 23 years of peace following the end of armed conflict, emphasizing the importance of economic and social development. Louren§o urged Angolans to focus on education and economic consolidation rather than political disputes, underscoring the need for investment in educational infrastructure and teacher training.

Addressing climate change, Louren§o noted Angola's commitment to producing clean energy as a core component of its energy strategy. He also called for United Nations reform, particularly the Security Council, to better reflect global power dynamics. He advocated for multilateralism as a means to tackle major global challenges.
