Siaya County To Construct One-Stop Headquarters

Siaya County government is considering construction of a new headquarters that will house all departments, area governor James Orengo has said.

Orengo said that currently, the departments are scattered all over the town, with most workers lacking proper office space to discharge their duties.

He was speaking Thursday while presiding over the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the department of tourism offices in Siaya town.

‘The best way to go is to have a headquarters in which all the facilities will be available to all the departments,’ said the governor, adding that this, however, does not mean that the current scattered offices would cease to exist.

He apologized to the county staff, who continued to serve under tough conditions, but added that it was through their commitment to work and inspiration that the devolved unit would achieve its objectives.

‘I am normally not happy when people we work with are not well accommodated. The space you work in is as important as the work you are doing, and we apologize for keeping you in accommodation that cannot enhance the work you are doing,’ the governor told the department of tourism, sports, and culture officers present.

The governor further said that his administration was committed to improving sports facilities across the county, adding that steps have been taken to complete the construction of Siaya Stadium.
