Luanda: The National Director of Youth, Jos© Mateus, highlighted on Saturday in Luanda the fundamental role of young people in Angola's development, focusing on the strategy for the country's economic, social, and political growth. Speaking at the opening of the first Generation of Millions Congress, the official stressed that investing in education, entrepreneurship, and civic participation among youth is essential to guarantee a more prosperous and sustainable future for Angola.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the congress was presented as an important platform for capacity building, exchange of experiences, and building solutions to the challenges affecting Angolan youth. Mateus reaffirmed the Government's commitment to continue implementing policies and programs aimed at strengthening opportunities for young people in various areas. He also encouraged participants to take an active role in transforming society, contributing ideas, innovation, and leadership to national progress. "Angolan youth have a decisive mission in building the country's future; they cannot fail in their commitment to help build an increasingly developed, inclusive, and prosperous Angola," he concluded.
In turn, MP Joo Baptista Kussumua stressed that Angola possesses an important demographic bonus characterized by a high proportion of young people, which represents a strategic opportunity for economic and social development. Kussumua emphasized that the realization and exploitation of this potential depends directly on investment in education, vocational training, and the creation of employment opportunities. He argues that public policies should focus on expanding opportunities for young people, without replacing the commitment and individual responsibility of each citizen. He highlighted that Angolan youth possess talent and capacity, but face difficulties in transforming this potential into concrete results due to structural challenges and limitations in access to opportunities.
It is concluded that strengthening education, vocational training, and employability policies will be crucial to transforming the potential of youth into sustainable progress for Angola. In turn, the president of the Association For My Generation, Ant³nio de Gon§alves, explains that the first congress aims to prepare young people for new challenges, giving them a voice and opportunities. We emphasize that the association has existed for three years and that this specific project began last year, with the objective of promoting youth development, focusing on education and employment opportunities.
He stated that they have already granted more than 3,000 scholarships for higher education, 287 for secondary/technical education, and 2,485 for vocational courses, which have facilitated more than 60 jobs through partnerships. "Continuing to work and ensuring that the current generation does not fail, the theme of the congress reflects the responsibility of building a better future for Angola," he said.
