Quipungo: The San community of Mupembati village in the municipality of Quipungo, located in southern Huíla Province, is set to benefit from the Employment and Opportunity for Youth in Angola (JOVEM+) project. This initiative, led by the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP), receives technical and financial support from the World Bank (WB). According to Angola Press News Agency, the project is part of a larger effort by the Angolan Government, recently launched to focus on expanding employment, vocational training, and entrepreneurship for young people. The project is expected to run until 2030 and aims to benefit approximately 500,000 young people across the country. An INEFOP delegation conducted a working visit to the San community as part of the preparatory actions for the project's implementation in the region. This visit marks the first step in the process, assessing the social and economic conditions, means of subsistence, and development dynamics to tailor the project's guidelines to the community's real needs. Sebastio Luzembo, the social area specialist of the project, emphasized the importance of this initial visit. He stated that the presence of the deputy municipal administrator during the visit strengthens the institutional monitoring and alignment of local authorities with initiatives to promote employability and productive inclusion for young people. The JOVEM+ project targets young people aged 18 to 35, focusing primarily on those who are unemployed, inactive, or engaged in low-productivity activities. Implemented nationwide, the project aligns with public policies promoting employment and human capital development. It aims to enhance living conditions, social and economic inclusion, and create income opportunities, backed by a USD 250 million investment from the WB.
